FAQ

1. Why globalAcc is set up when there are already many programmes being offered by various professional bodies and the education industry?
Generally we believe each organization has its own strength that can contribute to the development of the industry. It is also not a question of quantity but quality. For more details please refer to About Us.
2. Are your seminars and workshops recognized by my professional bodies for CPE compliance purposes?
Some of our seminars/workshops are officially supported or endorsed by certain professional bodies. In such cases, there will be no issue of recognition of our seminars/workshops for CPE requirement of these bodies. However, it is not possible for all our programmes to be supported or officially recognized by all professional bodies for some obvious reasons. But that may not necessarily mean our programmes can not be used for your CPE requirement. Many accounting professional bodies have already adopted or are in the process of adopting the requirement of the IFAC of making CPE compliance a mandatory. Most if not all professional bodies including the MIA(see its By-Law A-4(new)) recognize training programmes(including seminars and workshops) organized by any organization so long as they are relevant. For instance, the By-Law A-4 (new ): Continuing Professional Education, of MIA stated the following, among others:

  1. It is mandatory for all members to complete at least 120 CPE credit hours of relevant CPE learning for each CPE cycle of 3 consecutive calendar years, of which 60 CPE credit hours shall be structured and verifiable
  2. Members shall complete at least 20 CPE credit hours of structured and verifiable CPE learning each year
  3. Structured CPE learning includes attendances at short courses, conferences and seminars
  4. Accredited structured and unstructured CPE activities are shown in Appendix I to this By-Law
  5. Item (h) of the Appendix I stated that :
‘Relevant courses run by a member firm, an industrial company or other business organization’
  6. Members shall maintain records of their compliance with CPE requirements and shall tender the appropriate evidence of such compliance if called upon to do so ( ie during CPE audit)
  7. An example of CPE record is in Appendix II
  8. Examples of evidence for verification of CPE learning include attendance certificates, course outline and materials, evidence of enrolment or registration in a CPE activity, qualification or assessment reports, employer’s reports or confirmations of participation in in-house CPE activities or training programmes, academic awards and receipts.

This has to be correct as the objective of CPE requirement is to ensure that the members continue to stay updated and relevant. If in doubt, you should verify this to the relevant by-laws or guidelines of your professional bodies. For CPE audit purposes and as stated above, you are advised to keep the necessary evidence such as the seminar brochure, registration confirmation, receipt, course handout and material and certificate of attendance. We issue certificate of attendance to all participants who had completed the seminar/workshop.

3. Are your seminars/workshops claimable under HRDF-SBL scheme?
At this moment, we are not a HRDF registered approved training organization. But that does not mean claim under HRDF-SBL is not possible. Having said that, the fact is not all of our seminars/workshops meet the criteria for claim under SBL scheme. For those that meet the criteria, we will usually indicate ‘ Claimable under HRDF-SBL’ in the brochure. As you are aware, to claim under HRDF-SBL, you will need to submit your own application to HRDF department for their PRIOR APPROVAL before the event date. As they will take some time to process your application, you are advised to make the application as early as possible. In doubt, you are advised to check with the department itself.
